OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue)

The OPAC is an online catalogue of the information resources available in your Library.

The OPAC is your first point of departure after you have identified your keywords with which you'll search, as was explained in Step 1: Starting Out.)

The OPAC will provide you with information resources that are available and can quickly be found in your Library at no cost.

Definition:
Library online catalogue
The Library on-line catalogue is a database of titles of all the books, journals and audio- visual resources available in the Library.

Books located at other UFH Campus Libraries may be requested via Interbranch Loan. Please take careful note of the author, title and barcode of the book you want, and speak to someone at the Issue desk for assistance.

If you can't find what you are looking for in the UFH Library, you can also make use of the information resources of other Libraries.

The UFH Library shares its catalogue with its SEALS partners. It is therefore possible to search the catalogues of the other SEALS institutions, i.e. the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Rhodes University and the Walter Sisulu University of Science and Technology. Books may be borrowed from these institutions via Interlibrary Loan.

Contact the Inter Library Loans (ILL) department in your Library to help you with this.
