Collaboration

Over the years AEMREG has established National/International collaborations and linkages with the following researchers and institutions:

(1) Professor MR Trejo-Hernandez (UAEM, Mexico): Collaboration on Environmental microbiology since 1998.
(2) Prof. Peter Golyshin (GBF, Germany): Collaboration on molecular microbial ecology since 2000.
(3) Prof. John Howieson (CRS, Australia): Collaboration on Rhizobium studies in 2008.
(4) Prof. CL Obi, WSU: Collaboration on microbial water quality since 2006.
(5) Dr. AO Olaniran, UKZN: Collaboration on Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology, since 1999.
(6) Dr. DA Akinpelu (OAU, Nigeria): Collaboration on novel antimicrobials from plants and marine actinomycetes, since 2006.
(7) Prof. Sunny Jiang, Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of California, Irvine, USA. Tel: 949-824-5527; Email: sjiang@uci.edu. Collaboration on microbial water quality (virology) since 2007.
(8) Dr. Corine Whitby, Department of Biological Sciences, University of Essex, UK: Collaboration on biomolecules from aquatic microbial diversity, since 2007.
(9) Prof. Albert Bosch, Virus Entèrics (http://www.ub.edu/microbiologia/viruse/index.htm), Department of Microbiology, University of Barcelona, Avda. Diagonal 645, 08028 Barcelona. Tel: (+34) 934034620; Fax: (+34) 934034629; E-mail: abosch@ub.edu. Collaboration on microbial water quality (virology).
(10) Dr. Ola Olapade, Department of Biology, Albion College, Albion, MI 49224, Phone: (517) 629-0296; Fax: (517) 629-0888; Email: OOlapade@albion.edu. Collaboration on aquatic microbial ecology.
(11) South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON), Elwandle Node, Grahamstown. The SAEON Elwandle Node has recently established a long term monitoring and research site in Algoa Bay and they will be responsible for collection of the bottom sediment samples as well as provision of on site physicochemical and location data. The contact person in the node is Dr. Kim Bernard (kim@saeon.ac.za). Since 2009.
(12) Amathola Waters: We established a memorandum of understanding in 2007.
(13) South Africa representative and project leader in the “International Surveillance of Reservoirs of Antibiotic Resistance” (ISRAR/APUA) from 2009.
