Mfundisi sits at top 5 finalist for Ms SA
A whirlwind week of being under the microscopic lens at the Ms SA pageant ended for the University of Fort Hare student, Thandokazi Mfundisi, at the top five position. The pageant was held at Sun Arena at Times Square,Menlyn on the 27th of May. Being accepted and having made it to top five position was a dream come true for the 23 year old LLB student from the University of Fort Hare in East London. “I understood the scope of work and standard which was expected from a Ms SA runner-up and so I came prepared as it has always been my dream to enter Ms South Africa” gushed Mfundisi prior the pageant.
A platform which she believes is there for women who are eager to empower other women come together and exchange ideas. Mfundisi hoped to use the platform to make a difference in people’s lives and be a beacon of hope to all the girls who grew up in the townships, allow them to understand that their backgrounds do not determine where they go in life.
The middle child of five says that she had a great upbringing which was a mixture of going to church religiously and extra-curricular activities. She believes that she is very fortunate to have had been raised by both parents who are also very stable in their professional industries which allowed her the opportunities of chasing her dreams and passion. She is a registered second year student at the University of Fort Hare for an LLB degree and an active member of the Black Management Forum. Furthermore, a member of Students for Law and Social Justice.
Mfundisi is as economically driven as politically motivated. She hopes to encourage the youth to participate and maintain to be active members within society through casting their votes for the upcoming national elections, this allowing them to use their ‘voices’ to create change.“Everything that you want is on the other side of fear. Do not fear failure, fear not progressing” this being the partial message to girls and young women in South Africa she constantly filters whenever she gets the chance.
Ms South Africa was held and broadcasted on the 27th of May 2018 at Sun Arena at Times Square, Menlyn.
