The University of Fort Hare Blues Rugby Club has received a major sponsorship from Local Business  H-Solutions for the two seasons. H-Solutions owner, Mr Collin Heshula,  has taken the responsibility of looking after the Lady Blues team with playing kit and stepout clothing. “I have noted with interest that female activities in a form of sport were declining and something needed to be done in order to save the talents of young girls. I met with Mr Elliot Fana who is the Head of Rugby at University of Fort Hare and we discussed things at length – and the main thing that he pointed out was lack of investment into female activities by local and well established business institutions” said Heshula.

“We then agreed on improving the identity and image of the players on and off the field hence we came on board. The  first phase of the sponsorship will run for a duration of two years with an option to renew the sponsorship agreement at the end of 2017 rugby season”, concluded Heshula. To date the Lady Blues has improved a lot and they are already signs that they might be the force that they once were producing Springbok players and Border Players.  They won the plate finals in the recent University Sport South Africa sevens tournament that was held in Venda. They were in pool B with University of Pretoria (Tuks) and Walter Sisulu University (WSU). They played their first game against WSU and they beat them comfortably and lost their second game to Tuks to end second in their pool. They then qualified for the finals of the plate and played Limpompo which they defeted comfortably.

Lady Blues captain,  Lamla Momoti, was very happy with the news. “I seriously grateful to H-Solutions for their support, it just goes to show that our female rugby is growing in this region. I also want to thank Mr Fana and Mr Lange for their assistance in this regard – we know that they are the driving force behind the our progress on sport fields” said Momoti.
