Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours in Human Movement Science
Course Overview
Human Movement Science is the study of the human body during movement and focusses fundamentally on physical activity and related aspects. Human Movement provides the basis for sport participation and physical activity for health and wellness. Modules in this degree include: analysis of movement, sport psychology, motor control, research proposal writing and conducting research. The Honours in Human Movement Science provides the opportunity for more advanced knowledge in fundamental modules related to sport, health and wellness industry. The program will allow students to enter national and international industries that focus on physical activity for health and wellness, sport coaching, sport conditioning and sport management. Careers include; strength and conditioning coaches (provincial and national level), sport facility manager, sport event organisers, health and wellness officers, positions in provincial and national government departments (SRSA,SASCOC), sport psychology consultants and sport directors. Graduates may also enter into post graduate Master degree in related fields of Human Movement Sciences

- Duration: The honours programme is a 1-year full-time programme.
- Admission requirements:
Applicants need to meet the following requirements:
- Completed a Bachelor degree with Human Movement Science (or its alternative e.g. Sport Science) as a major
- Completed their 3rd year with an average of 65% for all HMS subjects combined
