Prof Peter Thuynsma appointed as a Turnaround Specialist for the Institutional Advancement

The University of Fort Hare is  pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Peter Thuynsma as a Turnaround Specialist for the Institutional Advancement Division for a period of six months. Prof Thuynsma is a seasoned fundraiser, who has worked with several local and SADC universities on various Advancement consultancies, including helping to build the fundraising function at the University of Pretoria. He has been a consultant to several NGOs and has served on various non-profit organisation Boards.

 

He has worked closely with the university sector, including serving as the special advisor to the Vice-Chancellor at the University of the Witwatersrand. He has a solid international track record as a human rights educator. He was the founder and Executive Director of the Institute of Human Rights Education (IHRE) in Johannesburg and the Director of the Council for Black Education & Research (CBER) in Soweto. He is widely published and was for many years Professor of African Literature at the University of the Witwatersrand. Before that he held the position of Associate Professor in English at the University of Transkei (now WSU). He is currently managing partner at Thuynsma & Associates, a Johannesburg-based fundraising and organizational development consultancy.
