Xabadiya will spend two years in China

The Sky is the limit for Butterworth born Avuyile Xabadiya who despite living on his grandmother’s pension fund for most of his childhood, managed to maneuver his way through primary and secondary school at Ncejane in Butterworth, Libode village and at St John’s in Mthatha. Xabadiya will spend two years with the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science.

 Upon completing his matric in 2010, Avuyile went on to pursue a Bachelors’ degree in Agricultural Economics at the University of Fort Hare for which he graduated cum laude. He then furthered his studies and graduated with yet another cum laude for his Honours degree.

 While at Fort Hare Avuyile held leadership positions for a number of organizations, from Sunrise to Enactus and also as an SRC sports officer for 2014/2015.  He worked as an NRF intern in 2015 and is currently working as a part-time lecturer at Walter Sisulu University. Avuyile is also doing his Masters degree which will see him going to China Agricultural University in September to carry on his research for two years funded by theAgricultural Research Council through China Government Scholarship in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education and Training.

He believes his experience in China will be a valuable input for the South African agricultural economy as he will be observing the techniques they use to expand their economy and deducing ways that may be applicable to the South African context. He also believes such opportunities are a good way of strenthening the relations of the BRICS countries as they share experiences and find mutually beneficial solutions to their economic challenges.
