Dr Marinei Herselman is a lecturer in the Department of Social Work and Social Development at the University of Fort Hare in South Africa, where she has worked for eight years. Her postgraduate studies were obtained from Fordham University, New York. She has experience in the field of supervised practise placement of social workers at Western Connecticut State University and vast experience in psychiatric social work and substance abuse of minors. Her experience in South Africa include forensic social work, the rights of children and the South African Children’s Act.

She serve on the Board of Trustees for Greensleeves Place of Safety for orphaned an abused children. In addition she supervises student placements.

Research Interests: 

Her teaching and research areas include: Children placed in alternative care, adoption, anti-discriminatory social work supervised practise. The evaluation of the South African Children’s Act. Burn out amongst child protection social workers.
