Ms Batchelor holds the degrees BComm (Law), LLB cum laude (UFH), and LLM (UFH). She is an attorney, notary and conveyancer and has her right of appearance in the High Court. Ms Batchelor also holds a number of certificates in different competencies i.e. Practice Management Training, Mediation Certificates and Certificate in Facilitation and Learning. Ms Batchelor commenced lecturing at the University of Fort Hare in 2013. She practiced as an attorney in a partnership in East London prior to opening her own practice under the name and style of B-Batchelor and Associates Incorporated in 2012. Ms Batchelor was promoted to the position of Senior Lecturer in 2016.
Ms Batchelor’s duties at Fort Hare involve lecturing, managing the Foundation Phase as the co-ordninator (since 2013), and taking part in various Faculty and University committees, chairing disciplinary hearings. Ms Batchelor is currently registered for the LLD (UFH) wherein her research focuses on the National Credit Act 34 of 2005.
She has written three articles to date, all of which are currently under peer review. As a practicing attorney, Ms Batchelor’s teaching experience of her students is enriched that much more as not only does she bring the theoretical knowledge of the subject matter, but she is also able to marry this together with practical examples experienced in practice.
