Thandekile Khumalo

Thandekile Khumalo (Master of Nursing) lecturer at the University of Fort Hare (UFH) since 2007. She was previously employed by the Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal where she worked as a Professional nurse at Hlabisa Hospital and Charles Johnson Memorial (CJM) Hospital. Also worked as a Critical Care Nurse at Wentworth Hospital and Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital’s Cardiac-Surgery Intensive Care Units. Appointed by the KwaZulu-Natal College of Nursing as a nurse educator at CJM Campus (1993 - 2002) and Benedictine Campus (2006 - 2007). A year later, she joined the University of Fort Hare as a lecturer for General Nursing Science. She got an opportunity to present her research work on national and international platforms. She is passionate about renal care and her doctoral research is on the burden of  caregiving among people caring for patients with end-stage renal disease. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau, Nurse Educators Association, Critical Care Society of South Africa and DENOSA.
