Mrs N Rala

Ntombana Rala (MCur in midwifery and neonatology from University of Fort Hare) joined UFH as a lecturer in Midwifery. Before assuming the role of a lecturer and HOD in the Department of Nursing Science at UFH worked at Nelson Mandela University (NMU) and Eastern Cape Department of Health (DoH). She also holds a postgraduate qualification in Nursing Education and Management (North West University [NWU]). She is currently studying Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing at NWU. Her research interest is on promotion and facilitation of supportive interpersonal relationships among midwives, birthing women and companions. Mrs Rala has published several articles and book chapters. She has presented nationally and internationally at conferences, as well as supervised Masters students in midwifery and public health. She is the member of the South African Nursing Council (SANC) Appeals Committee and Eastern Cape Premier Advisory Committee, UFH Human Research Ethics and University Research Ethics Committees.
