Cyber Security Law & Cyber-Crime Legislation Guest Lecture

The Department of Information Systems invited attorney Mr Sizwe Lindelo Snail ka Mtuze to present a guest lecture entitled Cyber Security Law & Cyber-Crime Legislation. Cyber-crime and cyber security are contemporary problems around the world and it has become clear that the Internet and social media have become viable platforms for cyber terrorist activities. The lecture examined cyber-crime and cyber security legislation in Africa with an emphasis on South Africa with reference to international best practice. It dealt with the Counsel of Europe (COE) Cyber-Crime Convention, the Cyber-Crime common law prior to the Electronic Communication Transactions (ECT) Act and after, as well as the Cyber-Crime and Cyber Security Bill of 2017 and the South African Cyber Security Framework. The lecture was very well attended and very enlightening to all.
