The Nelson R Mandela School of Law of the University of Fort Hare signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Faculty of Laws of the MountCrest University College in Ghana on 23 October 2014 at the East London Campus of the University of Fort Hare. Dr. Mvuyo Tom, Vice Chancellor of UFH, signed the MoU on behalf of UFH while Prof. Kwame Frimpong, the Dean of the School of Research and Graduate Studies & Capacity Building of MountCrest University College (MCU) signed on behalf of the Rector and Founder of MCU, Mr. Kwaku Ansa-Asare. While UFH is a public higher education institution which is almost 100 years old, MCU is a private higher education institution which was co-founded by Mr Kwaku Ansa-Asare and his wife in 2008.

Both partner institutions share a common interest in sound legal education in their respective countries, in the sub-regions as well as within the continent as a whole. This is evidenced by the fact that academic staff members of both Faculties are currently interacting with each other at various scientific conferences and engage in other networking activities. Many academic staff members of both Faculties have, on numerous occasions, served as peer reviewers or moderators of academic programmes and examinations at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

It is against this background that the two Faculties adopt this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which seeks to establish a mutually beneficial international partnership and academic collaboration between the two institutions especially in the areas of staff and student exchange programmes as well as supervision of postgraduate studies.

Prof. O. Mireku, the Dean of Law, expressed the sentiments of his colleagues in the faculty when he stated that the MoU has already attracted masters and doctoral students from MCU who have been admitted for postgraduate studies in 2015 at UFH.
