FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND AGRICULTURE

SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER:  WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST

ALICE CAMPUS - REF NO: 1275

SNR LECTURER SALARY: R 537 636 – R 668 851 P.A. (All-Inclusive Package)

LECTURER SALARY: R 435 051 – R 540 620 P.A. (All-Inclusive package)


 

Applications are invited from qualified and experienced candidates for the above-mentioned permanent position in the Faculty of Science and Agriculture

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Teach modules in rangeland/wildlife ecology and management and game farming at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
  • Conduct relevant practicals and farm vacation training for Agriculture undergraduate students;
  • Initiate own research; supervise students at Honours, MSc and PhD level, and attract research funding.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary collaborative research and community engagement initiatives;
  • Participate in assigned administrative duties necessary for the smooth running of the department

 

 

Requirements: 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES

  • MSc/PhD in Wildlife Biology/Conservation Ecology or related field;
  • 2-5 years lecturing experience in Wildlife/Range Ecology and Management.
  • Competency in plant identification; 
  • A proven publication record in accredited journals;
  • Experience in leading joint research projects;
  • Good teamwork, interpersonal and leadership skills;
  • The ability to attract undergraduate and postgraduate students to the Department.
  • For the Senior Lectureship post, the candidate should have a PhD, a minimum of 5 years lecturing experience, a record of post-graduate supervision, and evidence of previous research funding awarded.
