Senior Lecturer / Lecturer: Sociology (1 Post)

East London Campus - REF NO. 2124

 SENIOR LECTURER SALARY: R 504 823 – R 628 029 (All-inclusive package)

 

LECTURER SALARY: R 408 499 – R 507 624 (All-inclusive package)

 

 

Responsibilities for All Senior Lecturer / Lecturer posts will include: Teaching in the identified area of specialization; Refining curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate level; Participation in community engagement; Supervising  undergraduate and postgraduate research projects; Producing academic publications, especially accredited ones.

 

Requirements: 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • A relevant MPhil.; M.A.; Master of Social Science qualification for Lecturer and a relevant PhD in related specialization for Senior Lecturer
  • Five (5) years teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level for Lecturer and seven (7) years related experience for Senior Lecturer
  • Proven ability to teach and supervise postgraduate students successfully and develop research capacity
  • A publications record
  • Sound theoretical knowledge of the field.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake administrative responsibilities at departmental or institutional levels.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in community engagement projects.
  • Sound interpersonal skills
