SENIOR LECTURER / LECTURER: LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE

ALICE CAMPUS - REF NO. 330

 SENIOR LECTURER SALARY: R 504 823 – R 628 029 (All-inclusive package)

LECTURER SALARY: R 408 499 – R 507 624 (All-inclusive package)

 

Responsibilities for All Senior Lecturer / Lecturer posts will include: Teaching in the identified area of specialization; Refining curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate level; Participation in community engagement; Supervising  undergraduate and postgraduate research projects; Producing academic publications, especially accredited ones.

 

 

Requirements: 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of PhD for Senior Lecturer or Master’s degree for Lecturer in Library and Information Science or closely related field;
  • Basic theoretical knowledge of the field.
  • 5 years university teaching experience with proven research output for Lecturer and seven (7) years related experience for Senior Lecturer
  • Ability to teach, conduct research and supervise postgraduate students’ projects in at least two of the following areas: Research Methods in Librarianship; Information Processing and Retrieval; Computerized Cataloguing; Information Systems and Information Management; Cataloguing and Indexing; Information Technology and Archives and Conservation and Preservation of Records and Archives;
  • Potential to undertake academic administrative responsibilities at departmental level;
  • Ability and willingness to participate in community engagement projects
  • Sound interpersonal skills
