The University of Fort Hare wishes to appoint an academic staff member to enhance the current research and teaching capacity in the Economics department. Expertise and experience are sought in the field of economics. It will be expected that the successful candidate conduct postgraduate and undergraduate teaching in the programme focus areas in the department. 



  • Teaching, Learning and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Assist curriculum design and implementation of newly accredited programmes.
  • Assist with preparation of new programmes for approval and accreditation by relevant bodies in the country within a problem based and case based teaching environment
  • Participate in collaborative research projects locally and internationally
  • Supervise postgraduate students research projects
  • Integrate research in communities
  • Proper administration of courses, student records including discipline
  • Ensure good relations with stakeholders
  • Represent the department at faculty and University level




  • An appropriate PhD qualification in Economics
  • A proven research record supported by publications (Min. of three recent publications in accredited Journals)
  • A strong postgraduate supervision record (Honours, Masters students and PhD)
  • Ability and experience to teach Macroeconomics, Microeconomics and Financial markets courses at honours level
  • At least three years’ experience in a University environment.
