FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND AGRICULTURE

SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/PROFESSOR: SOIL SCIENCE

DEPARTMENT OF AGRONOMY

ALICE CAMPUS - REF NO.: 1422

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Soil Science including, but not limited to, Soil Chemistry, Soil Fertility and Soil Biology.
  • Supervise MSc and PhD students.
  • Attract research funding to support postgraduate student training and the conduct of community engagement activities.
  • Participate in long term-conservation agriculture and vermiculture research projects and any other projects that address food security and land degradation problems in the Eastern Cape.
  • Participate in the administration of the Department of Agronomy.

 

 

Requirements: 

 

  • A PhD degree in Soil Science with specialisation in Soil Chemistry.
  • Ability to teach other modules in Soil Science such as Soil Fertility and Soil Biology.
  • At least five years teaching experience at tertiary level for Senior Lecturer, seven years for Associate Professor and ten years for full-Professor. 
  • Sound knowledge of soil laboratory analytical procedures.
  • Research experience supported by a good publication record and the ability to attract research funding.
