PROFESSOR/ASS PROFESSOR/SNR LECTURER: LIVESTOCK & PASTURE SCIENCE

Associate Professor: R 664 424 – R 827 335 P.A. (All-inclusive package)

Senior Lecturer: R 537 668 – R 668 851 P.A. (All-inclusive package)    


 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Teaching a wide range of undergraduate and post-graduates in rangeland and planted pasture science.
  • Conduct relevant research and design community projects on planted pasture science.
  • Attract research funding, conduct own research and publish in NATED journals.
  • Initiate and supervise postgraduate students’ research and training in the department and contribute to capacity building.
  • Help the department to develop into a center of excellence in pasture-based dairy production.
  • Provide administrative and technical support in the department.

 

 

Requirements: 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • A PhD in Pasture Science or related fields;
  • Extensive teaching experience in pasture science or related fields. A minimum of 10 years for a professor, 8 years for Associate professor and 5 year for senior lecturer;
  • Competency in plant identification; 
  • A proven publication record in accredited journals;
  • Experience in leading joint research projects;
  • Good teamwork, interpersonal and leadership skills;
  • The ability to attract undergraduate and postgraduate students to the Department
