FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND AGRICULTURE

FOREMAN: LIVESTOCK SECTION

ALICE CAMPUS - REF NO: 2102

SALARY: R 204 476 – R 252 400per annum (All-inclusive package)

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Supervise the livestock section of the Research Farm
  • Reports important matters to the Farm Manager like security issues, sick animals, veld fires
  • Record animal weights in the weight book
  • Ensures daily animal count of animals
  • Record daily work in the diary: births, deaths, sales of livestock
  • Maintains long term ecological trials in accordance with the laid down specifications: assist Livestock and Pastures Science HOD and technicians
  • Need to identify animal diseases and treat appropriately
  • Work every second weekend and alternative public holidays

 

Requirements: 

REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES: 

  • Post Matric qualification in Livestock/ Agriculture
  • 5 years’ experience
  • Good Knowledge of vaccines and veterinary medication
  • Extensive knowledge of Nguni cattle and Indigenous Veld Goats
  • Manage subordinate staff

 NB. The incumbent will be required to work after hours on occasion
