East London Campus (Ref No: 1105)

R664 424 - R 990 247per annum (All-inclusive package)



  • The Director will participate in all activities of the Clinic, including responsibility for directing litigation in courts and fundraising for the Clinic;
  • Supervision and training of Candidate Attorneys’;
  • Supervision of student work (involving close review and iterative editing of written student work and preparation of students for oral advocacy):
  • Active management of, and participation in Mock trials and Legal Clinical Education focused on core lawyering skills,
  • Play an oversight role for general clinical work, and development of new cases or project opportunities for the Legal Clinic;
  • Actively develop new cases or project opportunities for the Legal clinic;
  • Perform any other administrative tasks as may from time to time be assigned by the Dean of Law or his proxy.
  • Research and publish in accredited/refereed journals.
  • Participate in the community engagement initiatives/ programmes of the School/University.





  • The Minimum qualification is LLM with five (5) years or more extensive knowledge in law practice including litigation; or LLB with more than ten (10) years extensive knowledge and experience in law practice. Three years practising for their own account or as a partner in a law firm;
  • Membership and good standing in relevant law societies;
  • Sound judgment and exceptional ethical standards;
  • Some experience of, or demonstrable potential for excellence in teaching and student supervision in a higher education environment;
  • Strong organisational and team work skills
