DEAN OF STUDENTS: STUDENT AFFAIRS

Alice Campus -  Ref No: 141

Five Year Fixed - Term Contract

R 1 020 378 – R 1 275 472 (All-Inclusive package)

 

The Dean of Students will provide leadership and management of Student Affairs, advising and driving the implementation of policy and strategy that will enhance the quality of student experience and well-being at the University of Fort Hare.  He/she is a member of Executive Management Team of the University.  As Dean of Students you will be expected to serve all three campuses.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, review and implement institutional policies that are congruent with the culture and social needs of students and institutional values.
  • Serve as integrator of functions across the institution for the purpose of enhancing student experience and success.
  • Initiate and manage student leadership development programmes and welfare through a network of quality services, such as clubs and societies, sports, health, wellness and counselling.
  • Contribute to the transformation of the institution, in particular to issues that affect students and especially within the context of the increasing diversity of the students’ community.
  • To be a custodian of the UFH student code of conduct.
  • To have oversight of student residence life. 

 

Requirements: 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Master’s degree plus five years working experience in the higher education environment.
  • Must have ability to manage change and maintain sound interpersonal relations and resolve conflict situations.
  • Experience in the management of student affairs within the context of university transformation.
  • Managerial Experience
  • Managing projects and budget
