ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / SENIOR LECTURER: SOCIAL WORK

Alice Campus: Ref No 886

Associate Professor Salary: R 664 424 - R 827 335 (All-Inclusive Package)

 Senior Lecturer Salary: R 537 636 - R 668 851 (All-Inclusive Package)

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Teach in almost all areas of Social Work
  • Refine the curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Participate in community engagement
  • Interface focusing on strategic wellness consultation
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects
  • Produce academic publications, especially accredited ones.

 

Requirements: 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a Doctoral degree in Social Work.
  • Registration with the South African Council for Social Service, Professions (SACSSP)
  • 10 years teaching and research experience for the Professor position, and 7 years for the Senior Lecturer 
  • A proven research and publications track record.
  • Appropriate experience in working in an academic environment and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate student research to the level of PhD.
  • Advanced theoretical knowledge of and insights into the field.
  • A substantial number of conference papers, peer-reviewed publications or other acceptable research outputs.
  • Peer-recognition as a specialist in the field and a potential to make a substantial contribution to the discipline or field.
  • Ability to supervise research at postgraduate level and to develop research capacity.
